In December 2008, Ken Laird, owner of Storage Depot in Lemoyne and four other midstate locations, offered to donate a 9-foot-wide by 29-foot-long red caboose on his Lemoyne property to the West Shore Historical Society. The Pennsylvania Railroad car from 1916 was moved in June 2013 by Pennsy Supply, to its current location on Lowther and Maple Streets. The caboose is dedicated to Stan Jones, the former Lemoyne High School football star who played at Lowther Field. Jones later played at the University of Maryland and was an NFL Hall of Fame player for the Chicago Bears; and Henry Gasull, Jones’ high school coach at Lemoyne High School.
